Good Day

News 4 Comments

Today didn’t feel like it was going to be a very good day. Spent hours sitting here waiting for UPS to get here after spending all of yesterday doing the same thing. Around dinner time, though, I checked Twitter and saw something from Curt Smith… they ended up putting a bunch of my photos on his site (Jeffery Saddoris helped with the processing). You can check them all out here: Curt Smith.

Then… finally… at about 7pm… UPS finally showed up with this beauty:

nikond90Thanks to Scott Bourne for the great deal! I will be spending the next few days studying the manual and the first new lens comes tomorrow… :)

Curt Smith at McCabes Pt II

News, Photos No Comments

I have been going through these photos from the concert over the past week and am very happy with them, mostly because it was so much fun to do. I’m hoping I’ll get the chance to do it again.

It’s alright
got to tell myself it’s alright
everything that I envied I have become
where to now
now that I’ve been lost and found
buried in the afternoon
breathless and snowbound
safe as the ocean
shine like a motor car
seven of Sundays
of course you are

Curt Smith in Hollywood

Photos 1 Comment

I found out that Curt Smith from Tears for Fears was playing at The Standard in Hollywood this last Wednesday. Actually, he played every Weds in February and is playing every Weds in March for free.

It was a very intimate setting and there were a lot of people packed into a tiny place. Everyone was so friendly and just excited to be there.

He was so good. He did two sets and it was all very casual. I only had my 50mm so you can see how close we were. I may have to go back to see him again.

The funniest part of the night came at the end. I had noticed walking into the hotel that they had a woman sitting in a sort of fish tank behind the front desk. She was just laying there working on a laptop. After the concert I went out to get a picture of it just because it was so interesting. If you look at the shot you can see the guy at reception with his mouth open. He immediately got on his radio. Within 10 seconds a guy comes walking in asking me which publication I was with. I told him I wasn’t – I was just taking pictures for fun. He said that people with cameras of that caliber need to get a permit before photographing anywhere in the hotel. Wow. I didn’t think a Rebel XTi was a camera of real “caliber”. So funny that the guy at reception had to call him over tho rather than telling me himself.
