The Tough Questions

I used to have a group of women that I would talk to on a regular basis (online). We had such amazing discussions on the most interesting topics. The group disbanded a few years ago and I have missed it. I didn’t realize how much I missed it, however, until just recently. The last several weeks Jeffery and I have been meeting with some friends, just to talk. These are not your everyday discussions though. We get together purposely to talk about the tough questions. Questions there are no definitive answers to. We talk about religion, philosophy, communicating with each other, personality types, etc. There is no judgment, but there is a lot of listening. I hadn’t realized what an important part that is in my life until I got it back. I walk out of those conversations rejuvenated. No, I don’t have any answers, but I love the digging process. Trying to figure things out and, also, realizing I am not alone in thinking about things. It’s a good feeling.

Vanity Nocturne

In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

  • I miss it too. So glad you’ve found some friends to discuss with and that it is a good experience. I had an unexpected conversation about some tough issues a week or so ago with a friend from church and it was so refreshing and rejuvenating. I couldn’t figure out what I appreciated most ~ a great intellectual, speak and listen, deep conversation or taking a chance on opening up and being vulnerable about some issues dear to my heart and finding a genuine, caring, understanding kindred spirit. Guess I needed both.

Love the shots (as always) and the quote. I always love quotes by Albert Schweitzer.

  • I know exactly what you mean and I really miss those conversations like that as well. I have lifelong friends in California that I would have those with and now that I’ve moved away I really miss it. It was nice to have those philosophical/spiritual conversations like that on a regular basis. Helped my soul to feel good.

  • I miss it too–a huge impact on my life.

  • Gosh, I really like those bottom two shots.
