Poppies
I was reading Stuart Sipahigil’s ebook the other day, Close to Home. He talks about how everyone’s home has something unique about it. We tend to look at other places and think if I lived there I would never run out of things to shoot. He says what we tend to forget is that our own homes are unique to others. That we should look around us, in our own neighborhoods, and try to find the pictures no one else sees.
I used to do that, but have recently gotten away from it. It is hard for me to find something new and unique in Rancho Cucamonga. I mean, who really wants to see a picture of Target or Starbucks, right? Yesterday, after dropping my daughter off from school, however, I decided to take a few minutes and shoot the poppies across the street from my apartment. I’ve done this before and will probably do it again, but I love poppies and it doesn’t matter how many or how few there are, if you hit the right angle you can’t tell that they are in an IHOP parking lot.

Wow! How lucky was I to find your site this morning! You have some quite stunning shots here that anybody would love to wake up and start the day with! Thanks girlfriend! You made my day!
I’m so glad you found it and enjoyed it!
I’m thrilled to see you were inspired by the book, Nicole, and I appreciate the shout out. Love the poppy shots, especially the first one. A bit like a Monet, no?
Cheers,
Stuart
Thanks Stuart! I am looking forward to your interview on Faded & Blurred!
