Daring Baker Challenge: Crostata
I have to admit I was not that thrilled when I saw what the challenge was for November. I am not a big fan of anything filled with jelly, jam, custard, etc., and neither is B. We both thought about skipping this one. The challenge did say, however, that we could choose our own filling so I modified and apple pie recipe and used the filling for that. It was actually pretty good.
The pastry was the most complicated part and I didn’t think it would work. It was very crumbly and barely holding together when I put it in the fridge.
Once I took it out, it rolled out perfectly. All I had to do was mix up the apples and bake it.
I tried to put the apples in evenly but it was more difficult than I thought it would be. They pretty much ended up where they landed. Not beautiful, but it did taste good. Although B still wouldn’t eat it.
Good apple pies are a considerable part of our domestic happiness.

Your crostata looks delicious! I also made an apple pie version and thought the crust looked a bit dry after mixing everything together. Nice job on the challenge!
Thank you!
Can’t tell how good it tastes, but I love the lighting!
