Benign Essential Tremor

Feb 10, 2009     1 Comment     Posted in: Blog

I don’t know what is essential about it, but it is something I deal with on a daily basis. It is a tremor that affects mostly my hands and gets worse with age. I am noticing it a lot more lately and am understanding more and more how frustrating things got for my dad (whom I have to thank for this lovely genetic disorder :) ). I constantly search the internet for the latest research, but so for there is not much out there. One of my biggest concerns is my photography. Having a IS (Image Stabilizing) lens helps a LOT and I definitely make use of a tripod whenever possible. I just thought I would put this out there in case anyone reading has any insights on things to try that I haven’t done before!

  • No real insights except to say it is an autosomal dominant disorder (it WILL be passed down, 75% of the time or so if one parent has it). And that my granny and her brother both had it. So I expect that my mom, sister and I will also…

Granny drank wine before dinner to reduce the shakes – not sure it really helped. I know from reading that sleep and such helps too.
